History

How it all started …

Isibani came about after many years of our founder, Sofi,  working door to door and seeing a never ending demand for information, health support, access to government documents and finances in a fairly uneducated and poor community.

It is common to find women (mainly the older ones) across all parts of Africa caring for and supporting the sick, orphaned neighbours and extended family. Sofi met and worked with a number of them over many years. Some of these women came to volunteer at Isibani and support the creation and delivery of more services to more people.

Since its small beginnings,  Isibani has grown and grown.  In 2009 we were able to secure a site centrally located in Winterton to open a permanent community centre, this enabled Isibani to reach out to more people in more areas.

Take a tour around our site to learn more about us and our projects.
